Test the trip you will actually make
Check your app version, selected travel mode and expected departure time. Compare a route from the arrival terminal to the accommodation and a shorter walk in the destination neighborhood.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Correct branch and Korean address | Similar English names can identify different places |
| Walking entrance | A road-side pin may not be the door |
| Departure time | A route available at noon may not work after arrival |
| Stairs and transfers | A fast route can be poor with luggage |
Do not infer accessibility from a route line alone. Confirm lifts and entrances with the station or venue when they are essential.
Prepare NAVER Map as a practical alternative
Install the official app, select a supported language and search the destination using its Korean address if the English name is ambiguous. Our NAVER Map guide covers the existing app workflow.
You do not need to move every saved place at once. Start with the airport, accommodation and first day’s destinations, then compare results while you still have reliable Wi-Fi.
Save information outside the map
Keep the accommodation name in Korean, full address, phone number and check-in instructions in an offline note. Save a route screenshot as a backup, but remember that screenshots do not update when services change.
A second app on the same uncharged phone is not a complete backup. Bring power and retain enough written information to ask staff for help.
If directions fail after arrival
Check whether mobile data works on an unrelated website. If it does not, troubleshoot connectivity rather than repeatedly changing map settings. If data works but the location is wrong, inspect location permission and move to an open, safe place.
Use the venue’s official address or ask staff to confirm the correct entrance. Do not follow a digital line through private land, closed gates or unsafe crossings.
A place pin is not a working route
Finding a hotel on a map does not prove that walking, driving and public-transport directions all work equally well. Test the mode you actually need between two real points, including the final entrance. A useful airport route ends at your accommodation door, not merely the nearest station.
Avoid treating old travel advice as a permanent technical rule. Korea’s government announced conditional approval for Google’s detailed map-data export on February 27, 2026. That decision is not proof that every navigation feature is already available on every device.
Final route check
Before leaving Wi-Fi, confirm the destination, transport mode, current service and last walking segment. The goal is not to prove that one app is universally best; it is to leave with one usable route and a realistic backup.
