Get to the station printed on your ticket
| Your journey | What to do |
|---|---|
| KTX or another booked train departing Yongsan | Head to the main rail departure area and match the train number |
| Line 1 or Gyeongui–Jungang subway journey | Follow the subway line and direction signs |
| Arrival on Line 4 | Get off at Sinyongsan and allow a separate walk |
| ITX-Cheongchun to Gapyeong or Chuncheon | Use the ticket and platform for that service, not a subway train with a similar destination |
Save 용산역 — 서울특별시 용산구 한강대로23길 55 and open the address in NAVER Map. Your booking’s departure station takes priority over a general search for “Seoul KTX.” Not every intercity service leaves from Seoul Station.
Inside Yongsan: the 3F concourse and 4F facilities
The Railway Industry Information Center’s diagram shows the concourses, Exits 1–3, toilets and the approaches to the train gates. Tap the image to open it at its original resolution.
Map: Railway Industry Information Center
| Where you need to go | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Main rail and subway departure areas | Start on the 3F concourse and check the departure board |
| KTX / conventional trains | The diagram labels access to tracks 7–13; your actual platform comes from the live board |
| ITX-Cheongchun / metropolitan rail | The diagram labels access to tracks 1–6; check the service as well as the track |
| Toilets and upper-level facilities | Toilet symbols appear on 3F and 4F; check which side of the gates you are on |
The map’s production date is not stated. Treat shop labels and fixed track groupings as orientation, not a guarantee for your departure. KORAIL’s Yongsan facility listing provides floor-by-floor facility photos; station staff and current signs take priority, especially when you need a working elevator.
Sinyongsan is nearby, not another name for Yongsan
Yongsan / 용산역 has Line 1 and Gyeongui–Jungang services. Sinyongsan / 신용산역 is the separate Line 4 station. Do not plan the connection as if Line 4 opens directly onto the KTX concourse.
IPARK Mall’s access page lists a direct connection from Yongsan and an approach from Sinyongsan Exit 3, about 150 metres to the mall. That is the mall’s access distance—not a guaranteed walk to your train. Keep extra time for reaching the departure board, finding the platform and using elevators.
Subway to KTX: make the ticket change deliberate
A transit card gets you through the subway journey; it is not your KTX reservation. Keep the rail ticket available offline and read the date, departure time, train number, carriage and seat before leaving the subway area.
Follow the rail-departure signs and the live board. Do not choose a platform just because a destination city looks familiar: several trains can head the same way. If you cannot reconcile the ticket and board, show the full ticket to staff rather than guessing from a cropped screenshot.
As a planning suggestion, aim to reach the station well before departure and leave more time on your first visit or with luggage. This is not a published minimum-transfer guarantee. A map app’s platform arrival estimate does not cover every queue and walk inside the station.
ITX-Cheongchun is a separate rail service
Yongsan is also a departure point for ITX-Cheongchun / ITX-청춘, including trips toward Gapyeong and Chuncheon. It is not an ordinary subway ride paid for simply by tapping your transit card. Check the service and ticket type in KORAIL before boarding.
If arriving inside a subway paid area, ask staff which gate or transfer procedure applies to your ticket. Do not skip the subway fare settlement because you can see the ITX platform. Keep your transit card and rail ticket separate and ready to show.
Luggage, IPARK Mall and finding your way back
If stopping at IPARK Mall, identify the rail departure area first and save a meeting point there. “Yongsan Station” could mean the subway gates, shopping area or rail concourse. A photo of the agreed sign is more useful than a vague map pin.
For lockers, check size, charges and collection access at the actual machine before paying. With a reserved train to catch, avoid relying on a last-minute free large locker. Ask for a lift using 엘리베이터 and show your next train when you need a step-free connection.
Lost property and useful phone numbers
| Enquiry | Phone in Korea |
|---|---|
| KORAIL rail customer service / help locating the responsible lost-property office | 1544-7788 |
| KORAIL English customer service | 1599-7777 |
The station’s official rail-information listing publishes 1544-7788. English telephone enquiries are listed for 08:00–20:00. These are customer-service numbers, not a promise that your item is being held at Yongsan.
For an item left on a train, report the train number, journey date, carriage and seat immediately. Keep the booking reference available without posting it publicly. For a subway item, state the operator and line; do not assume Seoul Metro’s Line 1 centre covers every KORAIL-operated section. Search the police portal too. Korean 15xx service numbers may not connect from an overseas phone.
If your next train actually leaves from Seoul Station
Replan to Seoul Station instead of waiting at Yongsan for a matching destination. For local routing, see the NAVER Map guide. A short distance on the city map is not a safe last-minute connection when you still need to find a mainline platform.
